Retired senior police officer Daniel Mutuku has praised the community policing initiative in Mwala sub-county, Machakos County, for effectively addressing security challenges in the area.
He encouraged Kenyans to collaborate closely with the police in crime prevention efforts. Mutuku emphasized that the National Police Service should not be judged solely on the actions of a few rogue officers who tarnish the reputation of the force.
The police have faced criticism from the Gen-Z movement, civil society, and the media for their brutality during recent demonstrations, which resulted in over 40 protestors killed and hundreds injured, primarily due to the actions of trigger-happy police officers.
“The National Police Service is one of hardest working government agencies. People should not take just one example of a bad officer and generalise that the Police Service is rotten,” Mutuku said
