Five people sustained injuries after a man armed with a sharp knife stormed Deliverance Church in Kisii, disrupting the service and stabbing members of the congregation, including the Kisii Central OCPD, who was attending the service. The attacker was subdued and arrested by Kisii police officers, who also recovered the knife.

The injured were admitted to Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital.

This incident follows a previous altercation on July 20, 2024, in another church in Kisii, where 10 people were injured during a brawl at Nyabigena Adventist Church in South Mugirango, Kisii County. The conflict arose between two opposing factions disputing the church’s leadership. The factions consist of members from the Adventist Church and the Nairobi Cosmopolitan Conference (NCC), which reportedly split from the Adventist house of worship. Despite the separation, both groups continue to hold services on the same grounds on Saturdays.
