Detectives are probing the shooting death of a man by unknown assailants in the Kist area of Kiambu Township. Witnesses reported that the incident occurred on Thursday, August 1, along Kist-Degro Road, although the motive for the attack remains unclear, according to police.
Upon arrival, officers found the body of an unidentified man, approximately 27 years old, lying next to a motorcycle. The victim had a gunshot wound to the chest, and police recovered two spent 9mm cartridges and one live bullet about 100 meters from the scene.
Guards nearby claimed that the rider had been followed by two other motorcyclists who fled the area immediately after the shooting. The body was taken to the City mortuary for postmortem and identification, with police describing the killing as an execution.
In another case, authorities are investigating the death of a man found in the City Stadium area of Nairobi. The victim had no identification documents when police arrived to transport the body to the mortuary. There were no visible injuries or signs of a struggle at the scene, and the body was moved to the mortuary pending identification and autopsy.
Additionally, a police officer sustained a head wound after being struck by a man he was attempting to stop from exhuming a body in Kaimosi village, Nandi County. Two officers had been dispatched to Kiborgok village on Wednesday afternoon to intervene when they found the suspect in the act of exhuming Darling Rukabite’s body.
When warned to stop, the suspect threw two stones at the officers, hitting one in the head. Furious residents then attacked the suspect with stones and twigs until police intervened. Both the suspect and the injured officer were taken to Kapkangani Health Centre, where they received treatment and were discharged in stable condition.
The suspect was expected in court on Friday, police said.
Police linked the planned exhumation to a land dispute, which they argued should be solved amicably.
Local officials have been asked to intervene and solve the matter.
