Detectives are investigating a tragic incident in which a man allegedly murdered his wife before taking his own life in Mosoriot, Nandi County. The bodies of the couple were discovered in their home, while their four-month-old baby cried for attention following the Thursday night event.

According to police, the incident occurred in the Kipkongorwa area of Lelmokwo Location. Upon visiting the scene, officers determined that Ivyine Cheptoo had been brutally killed by her husband in their bedroom. She had suffered a fatal injury to the head, inflicted with a panga. Her body was found lying in a pool of blood, long after the incident.

The body of the man, identified as Nathan Kipkoech Mibei, was discovered hanging from a rafter in the house.

He had used a wire to take his own life, police reported. Remarkably, their four-month-old baby boy was unharmed. The bodies were subsequently transported to the mortuary, and the murder weapon was recovered next to the baby. The motive behind this murder-suicide is still under investigation.

In a separate incident in Kibera slums, Nairobi, police are looking into the death of a man who allegedly died after being assaulted by acquaintances. David Otieno, a casual worker in the area, received a phone call from people he knew who wanted to discuss some unspecified issues. On August 4, he informed his wife that he was leaving to meet his friends at an undisclosed location.

He returned home a few hours later, in pain and visibly upset, claiming he had been beaten. His wife reported to police that he had a swollen head, and he was rushed to Kenyatta National Hospital, where he was admitted in critical condition. Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries on Friday, August 9.

The body has been moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy and further investigations. Police have launched a murder investigation related to his death, but no arrests have been made so far.
