Police are investigating an incident in which a police officer was stabbed and killed during an altercation at a bar parking lot in Embakasi, Nairobi. The body of 30-year-old Constable Nicholas Koech was discovered lying in a pool of blood on the morning of Saturday, August 10, long after the incident occurred.
Koech was part of a group of revelers who had attended a Kalenjin Night event at the bar and were leaving when a commotion broke out in the parking lot. Security personnel at the venue reported that they were informed of the stabbing only minutes after it happened. They stated they did not know what triggered the fight that led to the stabbing.
After the incident, they discovered a man on the ground screaming for help. Police arrived on the scene and confirmed that the deceased was a police officer attached to police headquarters at Jogoo House. Those responsible for the attack had fled the scene. The body has been transferred to the mortuary pending an autopsy and further investigations.
In another incident, a family dispute over land turned tragic in Tambach Village, Tuiyobei location, Marigat, Baringo County, when a man allegedly hacked and killed his son. The deceased, identified as 36-year-old Frankline Kipchoge, succumbed to his injuries in the hospital after a fight with his father over their land.
According to police, the son demanded his share of the land, which angered his father and led to a serious confrontation. During the altercation, the father cut his son in the neck with a panga, causing severe injuries. The victim was rushed to Nyahururu County Referral Hospital but died while undergoing treatment due to the serious wounds.
Police visited the scene and recovered the panga used in the attack. The suspect is currently on the run as efforts to locate him continue. The body has been preserved at the local mortuary pending an autopsy and further investigations.
