Emotions ran high as the Indian community in Kenya celebrated their Independence Day at an event hosted at India House, located at 151 Limuru Road in Nairobi.

The ceremony was led by Indian High Commissioner Namgya Khampa and included a wreath-laying ceremony at the War Memorial Cemetery near Nyayo Stadium to honor the soldiers who lost their lives during the First World War.

Attendees included the High Commissioner of India, officials from the Kenya Defence Forces, and Defence Advisor of India, V. Shirkidant.

The Independence Day festivities concluded with a large tree planting initiative organized by the High Commission of India in collaboration with the Earth Keepers Foundation. The bamboo tree planting event took place at City Park in Nairobi, opposite Aga Khan Hospital.
