A section of Jogoo Road, between Burma Market and Rikana, is currently closed for roadworks. Motorists traveling from Nairobi town towards Eastlands need to use an alternate route. A detour has been set up just after the City Stadium flyover, directing traffic to pass through the Shauri Moyo area.

Traffic on the opposite side of the dual carriageway remains unaffected. Residents have reported minor traffic delays near the Makongeni Roundabout, just beyond Rikana, due to ongoing construction.
“A bulldozer has dug a deep trench cutting across the road just around Rikana area. It’s like they are laying a pipe or something. That is why the road has been closed,” said Peter Makori, a Matatu driver using the road.

Adding that: “The road was closed right from morning, and upto 10am it was still closed.”
At the moment, the area has been cordoned off – with traffic police conveniently directing motorists on which route to use.

Jogoo road is a major road that connects Nairobi’s Eastlands areas of Donholm, Umoja, Kayole, Pipeline, Makadara, Shauri Moro, Bahati, Buru Buru, Tena to Nairobi town.
