Collins Jumaisi Khalusha, the primary suspect in the murders of at least 42 women whose bodies were discovered in Kware, Embakasi, has escaped from Nairobi’s Gigiri Police Station.

A police report obtained by Citizen Digital reveals that Khalusha, along with 12 other Eritreans who were detained for illegal immigration, broke out of custody.

On Tuesday at approximately 5:00 a.m., Police Constable Gerald Mutuku, accompanied by the canteen manager, conducted a routine check on the cells. They were astonished to find that the 13 detainees had escaped by cutting through the wire mesh in the basking bay.

Khalusha was awaiting arraignment for a plea hearing. Following the escape, the Sub-county Police Commander, Sub-County Criminal Investigation Officer (SCCIO), and the duty officer at Gigiri visited the scene and have launched an investigation to track down the fugitives.

Khalusha gained notoriety after confessing to the murders of at least 42 women, whose bodies he claimed to have dumped in Kware between 2022 and 2024. He initially admitted to killing his wife, whom he strangled, dismembered, and discarded at a dumpsite. Khalusha later alleged that he was tortured by the police and coerced into confessing to the murders.
