Between April and June 2024, the National KE-CIRT/CC detected 1.1 billion cyber threat events, accounting for 16.50% of total incidents, marking an increase from the 971,440,345 threats identified in the previous period from January to March. In response to this rise in cyber threats, the Communications Authority intensified the distribution of cyber threat advisories to sectors critical to information infrastructure.
This surge aligns with global trends, where the exploitation of system vulnerabilities is often linked to the growing use of insecure Internet of Things (IoT) devices, poorly configured systems, outdated software, and the rapid development of new technologies like Artificial Intelligence (AI).
