A sombre mood engulfed Mochokoret village in Ainabkoi Sub-County when two brothers turned against their elder kin, killing him on the spot.
According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), the situation escalated as the three brothers engaged in a heated argument over food during dinner time.
The confrontation soon spiralled out of control, leading to Duncan Kiptoo Singo’ei, 27 and Kelvin Kiplimo Singo’ei, 25, stabbing their brother, Emmanuel Kiplagat Sing’oei, 40.
The unfortunate situation left their 70-year-old father, in agony as he attempted to resuscitate his son.
He contacted medical personnel from Plateau Mission Hospital who rushed to the scene and confirmed Kiplagat’s death.
Investigators, who accompanied the doctors in tow, found the murder weapon, a kitchen knife, at the crime scene.
Also found at the scene was a blood-stained T-shirt which was preserved as an exhibit.
The two suspects were taken into custody and will be arraigned in court to answer for the charges.
