Police in Kakamega County, in a joint operation, have apprehended at least ten men linked to an attack at Emakale Police Post in Matungu Sub-County.
In an official statement on the National Police Service’s official X account on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, police announced the events that led to apprehension.
“Ten arrested over attack on Emakale Police Post in Kakamega County,” NPS noted.
According to the police, the recent attack on the Emakale Police Post in Matungu Sub-County led to the destruction of public documents, with personal property belonging to an officer being destroyed.
“Following the recent attack on the Emakale Police Post in Matungu Sub-County, Kakamega County, during which public documents and personal property belonging to an officer were destroyed, police have intensified their investigations,” NPS said.
Police have revealed that the key persons of interest were busted on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, in a joint operation led by the Officer in Charge of the Station (OCS) for Matungu Police Station.

“Today, 9th September 2025, a joint operation led by the Officer in Charge of the Station (OCS) for Matungu Police Station, in collaboration with DCI officers, resulted in the arrest of ten suspects linked to the incident,” NPS said.
Similarly, police have stated that the ten are in custody pending an arraignment in court.
On the other hand, the National Police Service has issued stern warnings against any acts of violence, destruction of police property, or interference with officers on duty, stating that such crimes will be met with swift action.
“All the suspects are in custody and will be arraigned in court. The National Police Service sternly warns that any acts of violence, destruction of police property, or interference with officers on duty will not be tolerated. Such crimes will be met with swift action, and suspects will face the full force of the law,” NPS noted.
Police in nab three in Kakamega
The incident closely followed another report where Police in Matungu, Kakamega County, apprehended three persons of interest linked to illicit brew in the area.
The National Police Service (NPS), in a statement issued on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, said the three were apprehended while transporting 100 litres of chang’aa in a personal vehicle.
“Police officers in Matungu, Kakamega County, have arrested three people, including two women and their male driver, who were found transporting about 100 litres of chang’aa in a saloon car,” NPS stated.
