A suspect has appeared in court charged with murder amid a probe into the death of a man whose remains were discovered at a Loch Lomond beauty spot.
Graham Wright, 38, was last seen in Glasgow on 20 August and was reported missing five days later. A member of the public found his remains near Rubha Dubh, at Firkin Point, on 13 September.
David McColl, 50, was arrested and charged in connection with Wright’s death.
Accused of murder
McColl has been accused of murder, attempting to defeat the ends of justice, and two counts of breaching bail conditions.
McColl, of Glasgow, made no plea to the four separate charges when he appeared at the city’s sheriff court on Monday.
He was remanded in custody and is due back in the dock within the next eight days.
Police Scotland last week arrested and charged John Roarty, 53, in connection with the case.
Roarty made no plea to the single charge of attempting to defeat the ends of justice when he appeared before the Glasgow Sheriff Court on Thursday.
Suspect remains in custody
The suspect was remanded in custody ahead of his next court appearance.
The major investigation has seen officers carrying out enquiries across the region, including in Glasgow’s Gorbals and Castlemilk areas and in Rutherglen, South Lanarkshire.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Extensive enquiries remain ongoing.” McColl made no plea, was committed for further examination and remanded in custody by Sheriff Joan Kerr.
McColl, of Glasgow, also faces two further charges of breaching bail. He appeared at a private hearing on Monday at Glasgow Sheriff Court.
He will appear in court again within the next eight days. Another man, John Roarty, 54, appeared in the same court last Thursday, also accused of attempting to defeat the ends of justice.
He will appear in court again this week.
