The findings were confirmed by family pathologist Dr. Ancent Kituku during a media briefing held at the Montezuma Monalisa Funeral Home in Machakos, alongside Makueni Governor Mutula Kilonzo Jr.
Dr. Kituku explained that an autopsy was necessary to establish the exact cause of Dr. Nzilani’s sudden death and dispel widespread speculation.
He noted that the 45-year-old had been diagnosed with a heart condition 12 years ago and had been undergoing continuous treatment, including regular cardiology consultations.
According to the pathologist, Dr. Nzilani had recently experienced abdominal pains and had sought medical attention, though the severity of her condition was not fully apparent at the time.
Governor Mutula Kilonzo Jr. said the county leadership sought clarity following Dr. Nzilani’s unexpected passing, particularly after a mark was observed on her forehead and she appeared pale.
The post-mortem results, he emphasized, confirmed that there was no foul play and that her death was purely medical, linked to her long-existing heart ailment.
The governor also announced that Dr. Nzilani’s funeral will be held on Saturday in Makueni County.
