Kariobangi North chaos
The Kariobangi North chaos erupted on Sunday afternoon near the PCEA church where a thanksgiving service was underway, and attended by the Democracy for Citizens’ Party Leader Rigathi Gachagua.
Two rival groups clashed near the entrance and quickly blocked the road leading to the compound.

Police officers intervened after the tension escalated, dispersing the groups using teargas to restore order.
The service was briefly interrupted as the confrontation spilled close to the church premises.
The NPS clarified that no teargas canister was thrown inside the church, confirming that church leadership had denied those claims.
“The service also wished to correct misinformation alleging that a tear gas canister was thrown into the church. Church leadership has been contacted and has denied that this occurred. The service later resumed and concluded peacefully at 2pm,” Muchiri said then.

The Service said it takes great exception to acts that threaten worship spaces, adding that it will handle the matter with firmness and fairness.
The communication was signed by NPS Spokesperson Muchiri Ngaga, noting the Service’s continued commitment to safeguarding all residents as investigations continue.
