Political activist Morara Kebaso has called out Kenyans over how they respond to accident scenes, sharing his observations and concluding that most are heartless.

In a statement shared on his official social media channels, Morara unpacked his observation of how Kenyans respond to accident scenes, raising several issues.

The activist noted that people in the country have adopted a bad culture of letting people involved in accidents suffer without intervening in time to save lives.

Robbery at accident scenes

He added that many people surround accident scenes to take pictures, with very few willing to help in rushing the injured to hospital.

“As a nation, we have a bad culture of letting people bleed to death on the side of the road during accidents. We just surround them, taking pictures and arguing about who was coming from where,” Kebaso stated.

While seeking to appeal to the moral conscience of his followers, the activist noted that some resort to robbing survivors, making away with their valuables at a time when they are vulnerable and on the brink of possible death.

First aid skills

He added that most people have first aid skills necessary to save lives, adding that the same should be taught at every stage of learning across all grades in the country.

“No vehicle or motorcycle is willing to carry a bleeding person to the hospital. In some cases, we even rob the dying person of their phone or money. Very few people have first aid skills, which should be a basic lesson in every school and every grade of learning,” he said.

According to Kebaso, Kenyans have embraced a culture that makes them as heartless as their politicians.

“We are heartless just like our politicians. Or politicians are heartless just like their voters,” he concluded.

Kebaso’s rise to prominence

Kebaso rose to prominence in Kenya’s political discourse due to his fierce activism and civic education across the country.

With the support of well-wishers and backed by Kenyans on social media, the youthful politician traversed the country, exposing stalled government projects.
