A foreign national doing business in Kenya has been made to apologise to Kenyans for knowingly breaking the law.
Nairobi County Chief Officer for Citizen Engagement and Customer Service, Geoffrey Mosiria, caught up with the man in Githurai and filmed their interaction.
Mosiria shared his interaction with the Burundian national on his official social media platforms on Monday, February 2, 2026, while also giving his take.
“Today at Githurai 45 in the neighbouring county, I was shocked to witness an incident that was both irresponsible and unlawful. One investor from Burundi, our neighbouring country, a tea and kangumu entrepreneur, chose to urinate by the roadside in full view of children, elderly people, and women,” Mosiria remarked.

The video shared by Mosiria shows the man urinating along the busy Thika Road, with the head of the customer care department in Nairobi County intervening.
‘I could not stay silent’
Mosiria made it clear that what the man had done was not only irresponsible but also unlawful, adding that he compromised public hygiene, decency and dignity just a few metres away from a public toilet.
“What was even more disappointing is that there was a public toilet just a few meters away, but he deliberately avoided using it to save a small fee and instead chose to break the law. As a responsible Kenyan who understands and respects the law, I could not stay silent. I called him out and addressed the matter because such behaviour is unacceptable in our society.
Why Mosiria intervened
Mosiria noted that he intervened to call out the act as a means of discouraging others from engaging in the same.
“Public hygiene, decency, and dignity must be upheld by everyone, regardless of their status or nationality. By speaking up and exposing such acts, we help discourage others from doing the same and remind everyone to respect the rule of law.

In the video, Mosiria can be heard explaining to the man that he had broken the law, calling him out.
The man was very apologetic and acknowledged his mistake, promising never to repeat.
He willingly apologised to the people of Kenya before being allowed to go away after saying to Mosiria that he had the required documents to do be in the country.
