Nairobi County Chief Officer for Citizen Engagement and Customer Service, Geoffrey Mosiria, has revisited a recent incident in which a man seeking to join Freemasonry reached out seeking his help, detailing why the person believed he could be of help.
In an interview with a local media company, posted on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, Mosiria recounted his interaction with the man who fell victim to fraudsters while attempting to join Freemasonry.
“Yaani aliibiwa na shetani hii town. Alikwa anataka juingia Freemasonry, akaambiwa atakuwa tajiri wa kutajika. Akaambiwa hii sasa tunakuregister alafu ukiingia utapatana na Lucifer,” Mosiria said, referring to the incident in which the man was conned by fraudsters.

This loosely translates to: “Satan conned him in this city. He wanted to join Freemasonry and was assured that he would be wealthy and meet Lucifer”.
Instructions that saw the man look for Mosiria
The victim was then directed that the offices of the organisation are near Uhuru Park, and it is at this point that he sought the insights of Mosiria, who told him that they did not see Satan during their previous visit.
According to the Nairobi County Chief Officer for Citizen Engagement and Customer Service, his work at the county government of Nairobi and a previous visit to a building associated with the organisation made him believe he could be of help.
“Alinipigia kuniambie nimsaidie nimpeleke hapo Freemasons kwa sababu tuliendanga kuchukua rates zetu hawaku wamelipa,” he explained.
This loosely translates to: He called me and requested assistance in taking him to the building, as we had previously been there to collect our rates.
Thousands lost to fraudsters
The man provided messages detailing his engagements with an individual identified as Chief Benard, who was to connect him to Lucifer.
The victim was assured that he would be safe when meeting Lucifer upon being given a registration number.

The fraud scheme saw the man lose more than Ksh150,000 in his quest to join Freemasonry, as he later learnt that he had been engaging with fraudsters.
Mosiria shared screenshots of his engagements with the said Chief Benard, claiming that he had paid the membership fee.
The exchange shows Chief Benard taking his victim in an elaborate scheme of several steps, with each step seeing the victim sending money.
