Mumias East Member of Parliament (MP) Peter Salasya has expressed his disappointment after Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna addressed his ouster from the Orange Democratic Movement party leadership.
Reacting to a press conference on Thursday, February 12, 2026, in which Sifuna affirmed his loyalty to the party and vowed to fight on while insisting that he remains the duly elected Secretary General of ODM, Salasya could not hold back his frustrations with Sifuna’s stand.
He claimed that the Senator disappointed him, alongside the entire nation, and dared him to proceed to the broad-based outfit where his political career would end.
“You have disappointed me and the entire nation,” Salasia wrote on X on Thursday, February 12, 2026, shortly after the press conference.
Sifuna breaks silence after ouster
Amid the challenging times, Sifuna remained grounded in his values and those of the party and asserted that he will remain a loyal member of ODM and challenge all illegalities using lawful means.

“We shall fight through all lawful means to the end. We will challenge every illegality in the court of law and in the court of public opinion. I remain a loyal member and duly elected Secretary General of the ODM party,” Sifuna said.
Sifuna laments
He accused the current party leadership of desecrating Raila Odinga’s legacy by turning the party into a party of illegalities that Raila spent his lifetime fighting.
“It is painful to note that sections of the party continue to desecrate the memory and legacy of Raila by turning this party into a theatre of illegality,” the lawmaker said, citing a gazette notice that was released to the public several weeks after the lapse of the period when public input should have been presented.
He criticised ODM leadership, accusing them of picking up bad manners from their association with President William Ruto and turning ODM into an extension of the State House.
“It is also a known fact that whatever deals Raila struck with political parties, he would never have allowed his beloved ODM to become an appendage of State House, where decisions are rubber-stamped after instructions from the regime,” he slammed.

Sifuna left it to party members to judge for themselves if the current direction taken by ODM is really the path that Raila had set for the party, adding that all can agree that the departed leader is turning in his grave just four months after his death.
