The National Police Service (NPS) has confirmed the recovery of 672 rolls of bhang during a targeted operation in Madogo Town, Tana River County.
In a statement posted on its X account on Friday, February 13, 2026, NPS stated that the operation was conducted by officers from Madogo Police Station who raided Adele Estate within Madogo Town as part of a wider strategy to dismantle drug distribution networks.

According to NPS, police also seized 700 grams of cannabis sativa seeds and 1.73 kilograms of unprocessed cannabis sativa during the crackdown.
“Officers from Madogo Police Station conducted a targeted operation at Adele Estate within Madogo Town, Tana River County, as part of sustained efforts by the National Police Service to dismantle drug distribution networks across the country,” the NPS statement reads.

NPS further confirmed that three suspects were apprehended during the raid, and substantial quantities of narcotic substances and related materials were recovered.
“Three suspects were apprehended, and substantial quantities of narcotic substances and related materials were recovered, including 672 rolls of cannabis sativa, 700 grams of cannabis sativa seeds, and 1.73 kilograms of unprocessed cannabis sativa,” the statement adds.
Police said the intelligence-led operation forms part of ongoing nationwide efforts to curb the spread of illegal drugs, particularly in areas previously flagged as transit and distribution points.

Officer assaulted
According to NPS, the situation briefly turned chaotic when one of the persons of interest resisted arrest.
“One suspect violently assaulted an officer and further attempted to obstruct the operation by inciting members of the public.
“Despite the hostility, the officers maintained professionalism and successfully contained the situation,” the NPS statement reads.
NPS confirmed that the three were later escorted to Madogo Police Station, where they were placed in custody pending arraignment in court.
“The National Police Service reiterates its unwavering commitment to combating drug trafficking and abuse within our communities.
“Members of the public are urged to continue cooperating with the police by sharing credible information that will assist in the fight against illegal drugs and other criminal activities,” the statement concludes.
