Mosiria shocked

Clearly stunned, Mosiria reacted in his usual humorous style.

SHIDA NI NINI HAPA? Ewoooooh, Ona mwingine ameenda kuweka token ya mia tisa akaweka 90 thousand, or 90K ka msooo,” he wrote.

He jokingly wondered whether such money could even be reversed once sent.

“Do they reverse the money ama mtu kama huyu anafaa apack nguo aelekee Mathare tu wasimu impate mbele?” he added, before saying the situation was too much for him to handle.

His post quickly attracted reactions from Kenyans, many sharing similar stories of sending money to the wrong paybill or adding an extra zero by mistake..

Kenyans’ response

Some Facebook users sympathised with the buyer, saying such mistakes can happen when one is in a hurry. Others admitted they always double-check the amount before confirming any payment to avoid a similar shock.

A few also wondered how long electricity worth Ksh 90,000 would last in a normal household, with some joking that the lights should now stay on for years.

While it is not clear whether the transaction can be reversed, the incident has sparked fresh conversations about being careful when making mobile payments.

For now, Mosiria says he is still trying to process what happened, calling it one of those moments that leave you speechless.
