A number of content creators and celebrities have, in recent days, turned to flaunting government projects amid accusations from their colleagues that some are being used by the state to drive a certain narrative amid stiff opposition to President William Ruto’s reelection bid.
A spot check by K24 Digital across the social media platforms of a number of celebrities and social media personalities revealed that some have been flaunting state projects amid a sustained onslaught by the opposition that has accused the government of failing to deliver.
While their coverage of these projects does not necessarily imply that they endorse the current administration, the content was, however, noticeably silent on the scandals that have been linked to some of the projects highlighted in their platforms.

Among the projects that features on her profile is the Talanta Stadium that was recently linked to a Ksh11 billion scandal.
She also highlighted a major road project in her Facebook reels.

Wanja Nyarari
Last week saw social media personality Wanja Nyarari take a deep plunge into the murky world of politics and government projects as Ruto visited Kangemi.
Ahead of the visit, Wanja used her socials to drum up support for a project in the area and was given an opportunity by the president to address the gathering.
“A time has come to have a decent modern market as promised by H.E. William Samoei Ruto. The current occupation of 660 stalls now has an increased capacity of 1,500 stalls and cold rooms and basement parking of 52 slots,” she wrote.

While content creation and flaunting state projects are not new, the timing is likely to elicit interest, given the growing opposition to Ruto’s reelection bid and the fact that it comes at a time when a number of celebrities have accused some of their colleagues of prioritising money.
Lynn Ngugi’s warning
Media personality Lynn Ngugi recently warned Kenyans about the actions of some influencers in the coming months, noting that many will prioritise money and will collaborate with the government for money and try to convince the public to support it despite their misgivings about the current administration.
“In the next few months, you are going to witness your favourite influencers completely collaborate with evil. They will gaslight you with all manner of excuses. They will try to convince you to give this government a chance. They will even rub it in your face. Because they have to work for the money,” she stated in an Instagram post on Tuesday, February 24, 2026.

Octopizzo fingers celebrities hiding behind brands
Similar concerns have been raised by renowned rapper Henry Ohanga, popularly known as Octopizzo, who fingered a number of celebrities for hiding behind their brands at a time when their voices are needed to speak up on the plight of Kenyans on whom their success is founded.

“Public figures can’t keep hiding behind their brands while the country erodes. Bad governance touches everything & everyone, the cost of living, opportunity, dignity, and even the future of children not yet born. Silence isn’t neutrality; it’s compliance. If we keep choosing to look “cool” instead of standing firm, our children will inherit the same battles we claim to be fighting today. Real change yields in consistency!” Octopizzo stated.
