Gor Mahia chairman Ambrose Rachier has welcomed the challenge from rival sides seeking to unseat the FKF Premier League log leaders.
Speaking on Sunday, March 8, 2026, Rachier insisted that the defending champions fancy their chances against the chasing pack of AFC Leopards and Shabana, who have emerged as the serious title challengers to Gor’s quest to reclaim the league title they lost to Kenya Police.
League competition
The long-serving chairman challenged the two giants to try their luck against the runaway leaders.
“We are determined to win. Competition is a healthy thing; we like being chased by AFC Leopards, and we hope to win. Shabana are picking up points, but we are ready to welcome and face them. We look forward to the challenge,” he stated.

According to the chair, Gor seeks to exert dominance as Kenya’s most successful football club.
“We have been 21-time league champions as compared to our other contenders. We tell them, “Welcome, play the better team, and may the best side win.”he added.
Rachier on Cup exit
His remarks come after he also gave his appraisal of Gor’s shocking exit from the FKF Cup tournament at the hands of BB Bread on Sunday, March 8, 2026.
Rachier said, “I have actually talked to the players and the technical bench to let us know what led to the loss,” he disclosed.
“We are not football experts, but we can say this is not very good football. We are not happy about the results or the manner in which we played. I have asked them to let us know if there is anything that led to this and if there is anything we need to rectify as leaders,” he added.
The chair also stressed the urgent need to swiftly address any issues hampering the club’s on-pitch fortunes, especially coming on the heels of last season’s trophyless campaign, which prompted the sacking of the entire technical bench.
“We must address the concerns that lead to the kind of result we are getting. We must do it in good times before we get to the point when we cannot explain what is happening. We are 21-time league champions, something we take pride in,” he asserted.
