IRL streamer and prankstar Vindee has opened up about the heavy financial toll of pursuing his content creation, revealing that he has spent over Ksh1 million in less than 90 days on his streaming activities.

Speaking during an interview on Thursday, March 26, 2026, with a local radio station, Vindee was asked how much he has earned since starting his streaming career. Rather than focusing on income, he emphasised the expenses involved.

“I think the first question you should ask me is how much I have spent? Because I have spent more than what I have gained,” he noted.

When pressed further, he disclosed:“I have spent almost one million shillings… on streaming.”

Where the money goes

Vindee explained that the money went into intensive IRL (In Real Life) streaming across different parts of Kenya.

This included trips to Mombasa and Nakuru, covering costs for security, cameramen, food, accommodation, and transportation.

“I have been in Mombasa for one week. I have spent a lot of money in Mombasa. I have spent a lot of money in Nakuru. I had security and cameramen. I had to pay them. I had to feed them. I had to put them to sleep,” he said.

He highlighted the difficulty of sustaining such content without consistent sponsorships. While he received some support from a brand during his Mombasa trip, the overall travel and operational costs remain extremely high.

Earnings vs investment

When asked about his earnings, Vindee admitted the returns have been minimal so far.

“The money I have made can be said to be close to Ksh3,000… Mine plus my fans. My fans can be said to be close to Ksh5,000 to Ksh6,000,” he said.

Vindee emphasised that his goal is not just personal income but also to change the narrative around Kenyan streaming content and attract more investment and corporate support into the space.

“My end goal was at least to change the narrative that there are no streamers in Kenya,” he said. He added that he once hoped to write articles and diversify his creative output, but has struggled to sustain those ambitions due to financial pressure.

Despite the challenges, Vindee remains committed to proving that streaming in Kenya can be a viable career path, even as critics dismiss the content as “garbage” while still engaging with it.
