Speaking to grassroots leaders from Kisii and Nyamira counties at the Kisii State Lodge on Monday, the President said that the main initiative for the leadership pact was to unite the nation, terming it the key component for fast-tracking development.
“I urge you that we collaborate and work together. When we formed the broad-based government, it was not a mistake, it was deliberate because we want to make sure that no Kenyan is left behind, and it is my prayer that it will bring the people of Kenya together,” he said.
“This country depends on all of us. Do not underestimate what you can do in pursuit of change in our country. I am not doing an easy job, but it is in my heart to change the country.”
The Head of State further asserted that he will ensure that the two counties will significantly benefit from the ambitious State development projects including the construction of houses and modern facilities.
He said that the already launched construction of an international standard stadium will be complete in nine months, costing Ksh.900 million.
“I assure you that your counties will not be left behind. There is enough for all of us. We are now investing Ksh.27 billion in Kisii for Affordable Housing, markets and other projects. If we go with the plan we have, Kenya will be a first-world country,” he said.
President Ruto also intimated that the Kisii airport will be expanded, and a terminal building will be constructed as part of the plan to expand connectivity in the region.
The president is on a 4-day development visit in Kisii and Nyamira counties.
He is set to launch construction projects for key roads and markets.
