Nairobi County Chief Officer for Citizen Engagement and Customer Service, Geoffrey Mosiria, has shared a deeply emotional story of a young girl who is now fighting for her life and urgently needs a specialised skull surgery.

In a statement shared via his Instagram account on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, Mosiria recounted how the child’s suffering began after a painful family betrayal that changed her life completely.

“Last year, this woman was connected to me through a friend who shared her heartbreaking story. After separating from her husband, she came to Nairobi to look for work and left her children in the care of her brother, trusting him completely. Sadly, just two months later, she received devastating news that her 5-year-old daughter had been brutally assaulted by the very people she trusted: her brother, his wife, and their mother,” he said.

He added that the child sustained severe head injuries, including a blood clot in the brain, and was rushed to the hospital before being referred to Kenyatta National Hospital, where she was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit. Doctors at one point advised the mother to consider withdrawing life support, but she refused and chose to keep hoping.

“At one point, doctors advised the mother to consider withdrawing life support, but she pleaded for more time, and that decision gave her child a fighting chance,” Mosiria stated.

The situation, however, remains heartbreaking. The child has now spent nine months in hospital and has lost critical nerve function. She is unable to see, walk, talk, sit and depends on machines to breathe.

“Unfortunately, the damage was extensive. The child lost critical nerve functions and is now unable to see, walk, talk, or sit, and depends on machines to breathe,” he added.

Mosiria further noted that after sharing the story, Kenyans responded with overwhelming support, including financial help, prayers, and hospital visits. He also intervened to help the mother remain within the hospital to care for her child.

Now, the girl urgently needs a specialised surgery to implant a bone in her skull, a procedure meant to protect her brain and possibly support nerve recovery. The family is appealing for Ksh150,000 to complete the procedure.

“Let’s stand with her once again and give this child a chance at life,” Mosiria appealed, calling on Kenyans to come together once more in support of the child’s recovery.
