A tragic fire incident in the Pentagon area of Kamkunji, Nairobi, claimed the life of a two-year-old boy on Tuesday night. His four-year-old brother is currently fighting for his life at Kenyatta National Hospital after suffering severe burns. The fire broke out while their mother was away, leaving the two children alone in the house. The cause of the fire has yet to be determined, and police have moved the remains of the deceased boy to the mortuary as investigations continue.
In a separate incident in Mukurweini, Nyeri County, a three-year-old boy was also killed in a fire. The blaze erupted in a house in Ngor village and quickly spread to two other homes, completely flattening them. The Nyeri County fire brigade responded to the scene and managed to contain the fire, but all three houses were entirely burned, with nothing salvageable. The remains of the three-year-old boy were discovered in the debris, and police reported that the body was burnt beyond recognition. It has been moved to Mukurwe-ini Subcounty Hospital Mortuary, where it awaits a postmortem.
In another case, police are investigating the death of a man whose body was found in the Nairobi River near T-Mall. Mechanics working in the area discovered the body, which is believed to have been dumped there after the man was killed. Authorities are also exploring the possibility of drowning as a cause of death. The body of this middle-aged adult has been retrieved and taken to the City mortuary for postmortem and identification.
In Homa Bay County, a suspect was lynched by a mob in Kobuya village, accused of being a rapist. Police arrived at the scene to find the man with multiple injuries. He was taken to Gendia Hospital but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries upon arrival. His body has been moved to the hospital mortuary, pending a postmortem. Police have condemned mob lynching, calling it a criminal act.
