Kyethani Location Chief, Mwikali Musili, and her assistant faced a challenging task rescuing a 24-year-old man identified as Mbuvi, who confessed to killing a 40-year-old woman in Mwingi West, Kitui County.

Mbuvi narrowly escaped a mob attack after admitting to the murder of his partner, Serah Mbuvi, following a disagreement. Chief Musili confirmed the incident, highlighting the gravity of the situation.

“The suspect says that he lived with the woman, they were couples. Recently another man from Garissa came, and the wrangles began,” Mwikali said.

The Chief further explained that the man, known only as Mbuvi, fatally struck the woman with a wooden object. Mbuvi, who had a romantic relationship with the late Serah, was not familiar to many in the area. Daniel Mbuvi, Serah’s brother, recounted being alerted to the tragic event by a neighbor’s call.

“I don’t know where Mbuvi hails from, but he has been staying here for some time. On Saturday we had an event here and he said someone in this homestead will die before the week ended,” said Daniel Mbuvi.

The body of the deceased has been moved to Mwingi level 4 hospital mortuary and the suspect is receiving treatment at the same hospital.
