Police are investigating a fire that destroyed two dormitories at Uhuru Secondary School in Nairobi on Sunday morning. The fire broke out while students were attending a church service.

According to the police, the blaze affected two dormitories housing Form Three students, which contained 105 beds. The fire destroyed properties of unknown value. A Nairobi County fire engine was dispatched to the scene and managed to control the spread of the flames.

The school management confirmed that all students were accounted for after the fire was extinguished. This incident is part of a series of recent fire outbreaks across the country, including at Isiolo Girls, Kagonye Secondary, and Njia Boys.

The exact cause of the fire is still unknown, but police suspect arson.

In a separate incident in Embakasi, a man was found dead in his home in the Tasia Kwa Ndege area. Police reported that the man had not shown up for work, prompting his employer to send a rider to check on him. The rider discovered the man’s lifeless body lying on a mattress.

Police officers found no visible injuries on the body, which has been taken to the City Mortuary pending further investigation.
