State media reported that an incident at a hospital in southwest China resulted in more than 10 casualties on Tuesday. However, the nature of the attack was not specified.
“The incident occurred at a local hospital and as of 1:20 pm (0520 GMT)… more than 10 people have been wounded or killed,” state news agency Xinhua said.
The attack occurred in Zhenxiong County in northeastern Yunnan province, and authorities are currently conducting an investigation. While mass violent crime is uncommon in China, where firearm ownership is strictly prohibited, there have been incidents of stabbings in recent years.
