A student from Tente village, Nyamira County, is recovering from injuries after his neighbor allegedly attacked him with a panga. The minor, a Grade 7 pupil at Tente Primary School, was reportedly beaten by Peterson Nyakundi after being caught stealing honey from Nyakundi’s brother’s beehive.

According to the minor’s stepmother, Melen Kemunto, the boy returned home with deep cuts on his back and hand. He was rushed to Nyamira Referral Hospital for treatment. The victim recounted that Peterson beat and cut him before calling his brother, the hive owner, and then allowed him to go home with the injuries.

The family has reported the incident to the police and is appealing for legal action to be taken against the perpetrator.
