The family of Mercy Kwamboka, a University of Nairobi student from Chiromo Campus, is calling for justice after her body was discovered in a thicket in Mwiki. The 20-year-old disappeared under mysterious circumstances from her home in Pipeline at 11pm after receiving a phone call. Her lifeless body was found shortly after.
Citizen TV visited the location where her body was dumped, speaking to witnesses and grieving family members. Her mother, Stella Kerubo, expressed deep anguish over the state in which her daughter’s body was found. “They tortured her badly. Her leg was broken like a sugarcane, and her hands had been doused with acid,” Kerubo said.
The first witness, who remains anonymous for safety reasons, recounted the chilling moment he came across Kwamboka’s body. “I found her lying here, without trousers, only wearing underwear. There was a phone, and behind it was 1,000 shillings, along with a blanket and one black shoe,” he explained.
Further details suggest that Kwamboka’s captors intended to kill her, as both her phone and money were left at the scene. “You can see here where she tried to get up and walk but couldn’t. It seems something had already happened to her before she was brought here. A car came, left, and then returned again,” the witness added.
Investigations are ongoing to uncover the truth behind Kwamboka’s tragic death and how her body ended up in the thicket in Mwiki, Nairobi County.
