Judy Nyawira, Abel Mutua’s stunning wife, was astonished as her daughter Mumbus discussed her high school’s impressive meals. The Form One girl revealed she enjoyed six meals a day, starting with eggs and sausages for breakfast.
Nyawira recalled eating githeri (succotash) for lunch every day in high school and having meat only twice a week. The revelation surprised Nyawira, who encouraged her daughter to share the school’s menu online, as many could not relate.
“The food is amazing. We eat six times a day. We have pre-breakfast at 5:30am. It is usually bread with tea or eggs and sausages. We have the scones at breakfast at around 9:40am,” Mumbus shared as her mother listened in amazement.
Mumbus shared the school’s diverse array of meals for its students, which included ugali, beef stew, and chicken. The Form One girl also mentioned that they received a snack after lunchtime, before 4:00 pm, much to her mum’s amazement.
“We also take tea with scone or popcorns if it is Thursday or Friday after dinner before we go to the dormitory to sleep,” Mumbus clarified, noting it was the sixth and last meal of the day.
Nyawira shared that she could not remember a moment in high school when she had many meals to enjoy.
“We ate githeri (succotash) daily for lunch, seven days a week. We ate meat twice a week, and you were lucky to get a piece. Most of the dinners were rice, beans, and cabbage for the students who used to follow a special diet. The bread was only on Sundays, and it was a quarter of the unsliced loaf, and the rest of the time, you either bought it in the school canteen or stayed like that,” Nyawira narrated.
