Chelsea legend, John Terry has hailed Lionel Messi after the Argentine made his debut for Inter Miami on Friday.

Terry took to his Instagram account at the weekend to post a heartfelt message to Messi, labelling him as an absolute genius.

The former England international said that he was lucky to witness Messi play football in this current generation.

Messi made a superb debut for Inter Miami as he netted a 94th-minute free-kick winner in their 2-1 win against Liga MX side Cruz Azul.

“We are lucky to have witnessed this man play and I’m even luckier to have played against and tested myself against him. Absolute GENIUS,” Terry wrote on Instagram.

Terry and Messi came face to face on several occasions in the UEFA Champions League while playing for Chelsea and Barcelona, respectively, in the past.
