A surface-to-surface missile fired from Yemen toward central Israel struck an unpopulated area, causing no injuries, Israel’s military confirmed on Sunday.
Air raid sirens had blared in Tel Aviv and across central Israel just moments before, prompting residents to seek shelter.
“Following the sirens that sounded a short while ago in central Israel, a surface-to-surface missile was identified crossing into central Israel from the east and fell in an open area. No injuries were reported,” the military said.
Loud explosions were heard in the region, which the military attributed to missile interceptors being launched. The military also noted that its protective guidelines for Israeli residents remained unchanged.
In a related event in July, Iran-aligned Houthi forces in Yemen launched a long-range drone attack on Tel Aviv, resulting in the death of one man and injuries to four others. This prompted Israel to launch a major airstrike on Houthi military positions near Yemen’s Hodeidah port, leaving at least three people dead and 87 wounded.
