Media personality Adelle Onyango has applauded Kenyan Gen Z for their active role in promoting voter registration across the country.
On Wednesday, March 18, 2026, she said she is proud of the youth for taking initiative and showing up for the nation. Her praise came as young people led efforts to mobilise new voters ahead of upcoming elections, months after the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) decried low turnout, especially among the young people.
She said, “Personally, individually, as myself, niko kadi. So proud of all the Kenyan Gen Zs leading the push for Kenyans to register to vote.”
She said the energy and commitment of Gen Z are inspiring. She explained that the way young people have organised themselves shows they want to make their voices count. She added that the initiative demonstrates how much impact youth can have when they act together.

“This is why no Gen Z slander is allowed on this page. The way they show up for this country is truly inspiring,” Adelle shared on her Instagram page.
She highlighted that the dedication of Gen Z should be acknowledged and supported. She explained that dismissing or criticising the youth undermines the positive change they are trying to create. She added that her message is meant to celebrate their efforts and encourage more participation.
How Gen Z is changing voter registration
The voter registration push was led by activists, including Willie Oeba and Ademba Allans. The initiative, known as Niko Kadi, focuses on registering young voters who have not yet participated in elections. The team set a target of mobilising 600 people to register, and the campaign quickly gained attention.
She said, “Special shoutout to Ademba Allans, who today, alongside other young Kenyans, mobilised new registrations in Kasarani! Incredible!”
The challenge began on TikTok and later spread to other social media platforms. The hashtag helped attract more young people to join the initiative. The campaign’s efforts were successful, with hundreds of new voters registering at the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) office in Kasarani.
This reflects the power of organised youth movements. Gen Z is showing that their numbers and voices will matter in shaping the country’s future.
Adelle Onyango said the initiative is a reminder of the importance of civic responsibility. She explained that youth leadership in voter registration is essential for building a stronger democracy. She added that the commitment of young Kenyans should inspire more people to participate in elections.
