Political activist Kasmuel McOure has addressed the buzz surrounding his recent meeting with South Mugirango MP Sylvanus Osoro, whose photos with him went viral on social media and sparked speculation.

Kasmuel, known for his strong criticism of the Kenya Kwanza administration—where Osoro serves as Majority Chief Whip—found himself under scrutiny as some Kenyans online accused him of secretly working with the Kenya Kwanza government.

In response, Kasmuel clarified on Thursday that it was their first meeting and that he seized the opportunity to directly communicate his longstanding critiques.

“I frequent that members’ club and meet many Kenyans there. The Majority Whip is just one of them,” Kasmuel explained. “It was my first time meeting him, and I used the chance to tell him face-to-face what I’ve always said online: Their government has failed us fundamentally. There have been extrajudicial killings, broken promises on service delivery, and a blatant disregard for the rule of law.”

Kasmuel noted that they had disagreements but also found common ground on some issues.

He stressed his commitment to speaking truth to power whenever the opportunity arises.

“Many online critics try to limit me to just protests,” he said. “But my leadership is not confined to the streets. If I have the chance to speak truth to power, I will take it every time.”

Kasmuel rose to prominence during the Gen Z protests from June to July 2024, noted for his wit, style, and dedication to a better Kenya.
