As part of Air India ’s digital transformation, the carrier has launched an AI-driven learning platform for its employees to help them evaluate and enhance their skills for better prospects within the company.
The airline is investing heavily in digitalizing its processes and departments for more efficient operations, and the latest development is part of its larger five-year transformation plan.
AI-driven learning platform
Air India has announced the launch of a learning hub for its employees called Gurukul.AI, designed to create personalized upskilling paths for its workforce. By leveraging advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence, the platform will help assess the employees’ job roles, current competencies, and proficiencies. Dr. Suresh Tripathi, Chief Human Resources Officer, Air India, commented.
Through Gurukul.AI, Air India offers a comprehensive suite of over 70,000 advanced learning tools, including just-in-time learning modules, micro-learnings, accessible mobile learning resources, and engaging video-based modules. Air India hopes that features like learning wallets and opportunities to earn rewards will provide an incentive for employees to strengthen their knowledge and skills.
The airline will launch Gurukul.AI in phases and customize the system to cater to different departmental requirements such as inflight services, ground services, and engineering, among others. In subsequent phases, the platform will also offer advanced, AI-driven solutions for pilot training management.
Relying on technology
Since the Tatas have taken over, Air India has focused on, among other things, modernizing its digital systems solutions. While artificial intelligence has been around for a while, including in aviation, the last few months have created a significant buzz around it.
Air India, too, has been busy getting new digital systems, digital engineering services, and creating an industry-leading digital workforce. The airline is updating several divisions, such as customer engagement, employee empowerment, and operational improvements, among others, where it has already deployed new technology systems or is in the advanced stages of deployment.
