Alfred Mutua, the nominee for Labour and Social Protection Cabinet Secretary, has disclosed his net worth to be Ksh.462 million. During his vetting in parliament on Sunday, he noted that his wealth has increased by Ksh.42 million since his last vetting as a Cabinet Secretary in President William Ruto’s administration. In 2022, Mutua reported a net worth of Ksh.420 million.

Mutua explained that the increase to Ksh.462 million reflects a 9-10% growth in land value and his various business ventures. “My net worth consists of assets like homes, land used for farming, and a few businesses,” he stated.

He is among the former cabinet secretaries who have been re-nominated following President Ruto’s dismissal of his entire cabinet in response to nationwide protests against his administration. Since taking office, Mutua has held roles as both Foreign Affairs and Tourism Cabinet Secretary. If confirmed, he will assume his third ministerial position in the Kenya Kwanza government.
