President William Ruto has announced that healthcare will soon be free for all Kenyans from birth until the age of 18, with the Social Health Insurance set to be introduced in the next three months. Under this plan, Kenyans will have access to free medical coverage through the Social Health Insurance Fund.
The President also revealed that the EduAfya medical cover, previously provided only to secondary school students, will be extended to include primary school learners.
Speaking during a tour of development projects in Mathioya, Kìharù, and Gatanga constituencies in Mùrang’a County, President Ruto said, “We are revising the old system, which only covered secondary school students. The government will now offer medical insurance to all school-going children up to the age of 18.”
Additionally, the President announced an expansion of the Linda Mama programme, increasing the number of pre-natal and post-natal visits from six to ten for women.
