Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja held a strategic meeting with elected Azimio Members of the County Assembly (MCAs) on Tuesday, addressing a potential impeachment motion reportedly being organized by Kenya Kwanza members of the assembly. The meeting took place at Sakaja’s campaign office in Riverside and was attended by notable figures, including Kilimani Ward MCA Robert Alai.

The gathering was called by Sakaja to discuss the impeachment motion and to plan development initiatives for Nairobi’s 85 wards for the 2024/25 fiscal year. During the meeting, Sakaja assured the MCAs of his administration’s dedication to delivering services to Nairobi residents through the proposed development projects.

“I believe with the planned developments, we will fulfill our promises to the people of Nairobi. My duty is to serve everyone and build a team that delivers for our residents. We made commitments, and we must honor them. I am committed to making Nairobi work,” Governor Sakaja stated.

He highlighted that his administration will serve all Nairobi residents, regardless of their political affiliation, and expressed his intention to work with all elected leaders to promote cooperation and effective service delivery.

This meeting follows reports of a Kenya Kwanza-led initiative to introduce an impeachment motion against the governor. Earlier this month, Sakaja also met with Kenya Kwanza-allied MCAs to discuss county issues and acknowledged the support he has received from United Democratic Alliance (UDA) MCAs, despite their minority status in the county assembly.
