Andrew Kibe angers Kenyans after ‘cringeworthy’ interaction with Boina

Controversial internet personality Andrew Kibe has earned the ire of the internet after making what many have dubbed as inappropriate overtures at a female influencer while on set.

Kibe, no stranger to online squabbles, ruffled many after appearing in a bread commercial where he can be seen making blatant sexual jibes at popular food influencer Boina.

As Boina attempts to whip up a bread recipe alongside him, the former YouTube heavyweight can be seen openly looking her up and down, making a tactical swipe behind her and proceeding to throw around sexist questions as he compares her with her fellow female influencer Phoina, of Phoina Beauty, and with whom her name rhymes.

“Boina, is it Boina? The other one is called Foina. You are the more popular than the other one, eh?” he asks.

An unfazed Boina proceeds to heap praises on Phoina, attempting to explain that they were two different people and, while at it, expressing her open admiration to her peer.

“There’s Boina and there’s Foina. Those are two different people. She’s, richer. Financially, she’s loaded…” she clarifies.

“And you in spirit?” Kibe interjects.

“In spirit, I’m loaded, I’m yet to get there financially…” she states.

However, things get a little awkward after Kibe ups the ante, this time, appearing to demand to know who was ‘sexier’ between the two women, making his question as brazenly uncomfortable as possible.

“Body wise, nani ameosha mwingine?” he shoots. “I hadn’t seen your body. I think…”

At this point, Boina appears openly thrown off, at first, unable to tackle the question before coyly playing it off.

“Now guys, I don’t know about Foina, I feel like she’s peng… Proper. But….” she stutters.

“That’s the problem with women, you can never admit a fact! Let’s get back to the food!” Kibe snipes.

Many Kenyans who interacted with the short snippet, part of a longer collaboration between Kibe and Boina, for a leading bread brand, termed the session as cringey, highly unprofessional and downright sexist.

Popular X personality @Zolesa wrote, “I’m just wondering how a brand in its right mind would associate themselves with Andrew Kibe and provide him a platform to spew his nonsense in an attempt to market their products. Especially in 2025. Like this man has stayed true to his nonsense for YEARS. WTF?”

Food content creator Dennis Ombachi also chimed in, saying, “Every parent with a daughter’s fear is men like Kibe. And you don’t have to raise daughters to understand this, it’s basic moral instincts.”

On his part, Elvis Mwangi said, “This is a absolute rubbish. This is actual sexual harassment from an old man. That girl is like his children… but here he is being cringy as hell!”

Yet another displeased viewer opined, “Who thought it was a good idea to bring this thirsty ass shameless old man on for a bread ad? She looks so uncomfortable Bro. You can clearly hear her stuttering and attempting to play away the nasty questions. How did this even make it on air?”

Kibe, however, did not lack a few people in his corner – people who saw absolutely nothing wrong with the interaction and others who found it quite appropriate given Kibe’s online personality.

Stephen Nzomo said,”Boina said she’s 32. You’re making it sound like Kibe was sexualizing a young underage girl. That was a nice show, full of polarity. Kibe was just being Kibe. I see no political correctness, just rawness & edgy cocky conversations, which she liked…”

Another apparent Kibe fan defended him, saying, “Hii haikuwa script? Because before a corporate release any content it has to go through some approval process. Me thinks that’s what they agreed to do and is doing exactly what it was intended to do. This is the Kibe we know. How can we expect a different version of him?”

Despite the widespread blowback, nobody involved in the making of the bread ad has released a statement. And neither Kibe nor Boina has spoken out regarding the situation, either.
