Former radio presenter Andrew Kibe has confirmed he will step into the boxing ring against Mumias East MP Peter Salasya in December, but not before drawing a firm line over who gets to be involved in the event.
In a candid podcast interview, Kibe announced without hesitation.
He told his interviewer the contract was already on his phone, ready to be signed, making it clear the bout is very much happening.
Why Kibe cut Oga Obinna out of the fight
The more revealing moment came when Kibe explained why popular entertainer Oga Obinna would not be organising the event, despite apparently being the first to express interest in hosting the fight.
“Nani wanted to run it, Obinna. But I don’t trust him, so I cannot work with him,” Kibe said bluntly.
When pressed further, he stopped short of spelling out the specifics but hinted at a deeper falling out.
“I’m not 100% sure that he was not involved in that nonsense,” he added, without elaborating on what the “nonsense” referred to.
Kibe went on to explain that Obinna’s offer would have seen both fighters receive a relatively small payout, which he found unacceptable given the scale of interest the match is likely to attract.
Rather than hand over the event to Obinna’s platform, he said he and his team have since moved on to work with a completely different outfit.
