The Atheists in Kenya Society president Harrison Mumia on Thursday, honoured an invite to attend the National Prayer Breakfast meeting at Safari Park Hotel. However, this came as a surprise due to Mumia’s affiliation with the Atheist Community and being the President of the association.

In a tweet, on Wednesday, the Atheists In Kenya Society said it had been invited by the Parliament’s Prayer Breakfast Committee to attend the National Prayer Breakfast at the Safari Park Hotel.

“This invitation is unprecedented in Kenyan history and a welcomed gesture,” the society said.

Taking to his X account, Mumia said he was delighted.
The Atheists In Kenya Society defines itself as an atheist organization, registered under the Societies Act, Cap 108.

According to its website, the society says: “We are the first non-religious society to be registered in the country.”

According to its website, atheism, in general, is the critique and denial of metaphysical beliefs in God or spiritual beings.
As such, it is usually distinguished from theism, which affirms the reality of the divine and often seeks to demonstrate its existence.
