The Atheists In Kenya Society has defended Pastor Robert Buraleafter his former wife, Rozina Mwakideu, spoke about their brief marriage.
In a statement on Monday, October 6, 2025, the group urged Mwakideu to focus on emotional healing and seek professional support.

“We urge Rozina Mwakideu to work on her emotional well-being. Counselling and therapy can help her find closure and forgiveness,” the statement said.
The society highlighted that Mwakideu’s comments, made more than a decade after their divorce, reflected unresolved bitterness. “She is a petty, nasty, and vindictive ex who wants to tarnish Burale’s reputation,” the statement read.
They further emphasised that airing personal grievances publicly should not harm Burale, adding, “She should seek counselling and therapy to speed up healing and forgiveness.”

The Atheists In Kenya Society stressed that while Mwakideu has the right to express her feelings, her public statements should not be used to attack Burale.
“The Atheists In Kenya Society stands with Pastor Robert Burale,” the statement declared, highlighting the need for personal responsibility and self-reflection.
The group also urged Mwakideu to take constructive steps toward reconciling with her past, noting that public disputes can have lasting negative consequences.

“She should seek therapy and engage in self-care to allow both her and Burale to continue their lives without unnecessary public conflict,” the statement concluded.
The group said Mwakideu’s admission that she ignored red flags in the relationship was what contributed to its failure, prompting them to speak out.
The controversy arose after Rozina Mwakideu appeared on a widely discussed podcast hosted by her brother, where she described her marriage to Burale as the darkest and most painful period of her life.
She revealed that the union lasted only a year and two days and left her emotionally drained.
Despite acknowledging that she has since moved on, Mwakideu described the marriage as the biggest mistake of her life.
