The musician honed his skills with the acclaimed Bilenge Musica before stepping out to form his band.

The trade unionist is a Rhumba enthusiast who has, in the past, shared videos showing him swaying to tunes.

Atwoli’s political influence

With a career spanning several decades, Atwoli has become a key figure in public discourse, labour rights advocacy, and political activism in the country.

His commanding presence, bold statements, and charismatic personality have made him a controversial public figure and respected leader who has been shaping Kenyan politics for decades.

His Ildamat home has in the past been a beehive of activities in the days preceding presidential elections, with delegations trooping in for discussions.

In the last two presidential elections, the COTU boss threw his weight behind former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.

Despite his endorsement, the opposition candidate failed to clinch the seat.

After Odinga’s loss in the 2022 election, the COTU boss warmed up to President Ruto’s government.
