Azimio la Umoja One Kenya coalition party leader Raila Odinga now says that the opposition political outfit will next week hold prayers for the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).
Addressing the press on Wednesday, Mr Odinga reiterated the outfit’s commitment to continue with nationwide rallies in a bid to compel the government to own up to what it terms electoral injustices at the 2022 polls.
He said the coalition will therefore hold prayers outside the IEBC offices in Nairobi as a way of appealing to the commission to admit liability for its alleged errors.
“We must defend electoral justice in our country. We will continue to urge Kenyans to wake up and defend their rights. This week we will be in Kisii on Friday, and on Saturday we will be in Kisumu. Then we will be doing a prayer for the IEBC to defend the rights of our people,” Odinga stated.
“That prayer will be done in front of the premises of IEBC sometime next week.”
According to the former premier, he won the 2022 presidential election and maintains that the country is being led by the minority.
The Azimio chief says that a recent report by “ethical hackers” showed that he allegedly floored President William Ruto in the State House race, but was denied his victory by the commission.
“We have exposed the information and shown the whole world what is in the server. If they want Kenyans to be led by a minority, fine, but let Kenyans make the decision themselves,” he said.
“Somebody got 5.9 million votes and another got 8.1 million…votes those are the facts which cannot be swept under the carpet.”
The remarks by Mr Odinga come a day after the Kenya Kwanza government held a National Prayer Service at the Nyayo Stadium.
