Radio host and content creator Azziad Nasenya has questioned the popular advice of “work hard now, rest later” after sharing her early morning routine.
She explained that her real-life experience does not seem to match what she was told while growing up in an Instagram post on Wednesday, May 6, 2026
“Work hard now, you are going to reap your fruits in future. Work hard now, you are gonna sleep in future,” Azziad Nasenya said.
She said that she was also told that people who rest during youth would struggle later in life. Azziad said this message shaped her mindset while she was still in school. She added that the idea was repeated many times during her early education.

“The ones who are sleeping now are going to be working hard in future, or rather, they are going to be waking up early because they did not work hard now. That is what they told me when I was in school,” she said.
Early morning reality
Azziad Nasenya went on to question that advice after waking up very early for work. Azziad said she was up at 5.15 am and already heading out to work. She explained that this made her rethink what she had been taught about rest and success.
“Tell me why it is 5.15 am, and I am up, and I am going to work,” Azziad Nasenya said.

She added that she feels the promise of resting later in life may not always be true. Azziad said she thought hard work in youth would lead to more rest in adulthood and explained that her current experience feels different from that expectation.
“Like they lied to me. That I should work hard in my younger age, that I would sleep when I am older,” she said.
She further expressed her mixed feelings about the situation and added that despite the exhaustion, she still pushes herself to continue working.
“There is no sleep for the wicked. I am not a wicked person, though, but it is fine, good morning,” she said.
She ended by encouraging a positive attitude despite early mornings and fatigue.
