Kenyan content creator Baba Talisha has come out strongly to defend himself after a netizen accused him of living lavishly using money raised in honour of the late TikToker Brian Chira.

The exchange, which played out publicly on Facebook on Friday, January 2, 2026, quickly sparked debate around online fundraisers, accountability, and harassment of public figures.

The controversy began after Allan Ouma Wabwire commented on one of Baba Talisha’s posts, claiming that the content creator was enjoying a flashy lifestyle funded by Chira’s contributions.

In his comment, Allan wrote “Umepiga luku na pesa ya Chira,” a Sheng phrase loosely translated to mean “you are dressing smart or living large using Chira’s money.

The remark did not sit well with Baba Talisha, who responded with a lengthy and emotionally charged rebuttal.

In his reply, Baba Talisha accused Allan of persistently trolling him on a daily basis and challenged him to back up his claims with evidence.

He insisted that the accusation was unfair, especially coming from someone he says never contributed to the fundraiser.

“This guy is ever on my page to trash me daily,” Baba Talisha wrote.

He added that Allan should state how much money he donated so it could be refunded “mara elfu moja”, or a thousand times over, if proof was provided.

He further questioned why his personal life had become a subject of scrutiny, saying accusations had made it difficult for him to live normally.

According to Baba Talisha, people online question how he dresses, where he lives, and whether he is allowed to own or build property, all based on assumptions rather than facts.

Why fundraisers stopped

In the same post, Baba Talisha revealed that constant accusations were the reason he chose to stop participating in public fundraisers altogether.

“That is why I stopped michango,” he stated, noting that the environment had become hostile even when intentions were genuine.

He added that despite attempting to block Allan’s account, the option appeared not to work, leaving him exposed to continued attacks in the comment section.

The exchange has since drawn mixed reactions, with some users backing Baba Talisha and calling for critics to provide evidence, while others urged transparency whenever public contributions are involved.

Brian Chira’s death had previously united content creators and fans in mourning, and calling for the investigators to establish what really killed him.

This is because there were so many versions of the story that were being propagated at the time.
