Kenyan content creator Baba Talisha has come out to address swirling claims that he was hunting for a KSh 6 million public fundraiser, saying the narrative being shared on TikTok is far from the truth.
In a selfie-style video filmed outdoors, with a blue sky and patterned wall panel in the background, Baba Talisha spoke directly to his followers in a candid and at times emotional tone, holding up a handwritten police document as supporting evidence for his account of events.
Is Baba Talisha in debt?
The content creator traced the root of the matter to a car repair dispute that began in 2024.
He explained that he had taken a vehicle somewhere to be fixed, but the process dragged on with the car going ‘back and forth’ until the situation eventually escalated into a police matter at Kasarani Police Station.
“I don’t want to go into details, I don’t want to talk about the case,” he said, acknowledging that he could not discuss it fully but wanting to clear the air about the fundraiser angle specifically.
He was emphatic that he never set up any public collection.
“I don’t want TikTok money, I don’t want anybody to do any fundraising for me,” he stated plainly.
Why did Baba Talisha ask friends for help
Baba Talisha explained that the only reason he approached anyone for help was because of a tight timeline and competing financial responsibilities, most notably his child, who has special needs.
“I have a baby who has special needs. Every weekend I need a therapist,” he said, adding that the therapy costs take up a significant portion of his budget.
Because of that ongoing commitment, he could not simply redirect his savings to cover the other matter within the required timeframe.
He stressed that he quietly asked a handful of friends whether they could assist, making it clear it was not an obligation.
“It was not a must they have to help me. It was just like a request,” he said. Those friends chose to come through, and that was as far as it went.
He also reflected on why it took him this long to open up, describing himself as a very private person who has never run a personal fundraiser on TikTok. The only fundraising he has done publicly, he noted, was to support other people.
“It was just because of my own mental health, because I was somewhere bad mentally. Finally I had to open up to my friends,” he admitted.
Baba Talisha closed by reminding his audience that he is still active professionally, offering photography, production, event planning, decor, and social media strategy services.
He also leaked chats where he described what was happening in his life.

The amount in question is KSh 500,000, NOT KSh 6 million as has been stated on some TikTok blogs. I was required by the court to deposit KSh 500,000 as security within 45 days for the matter to be heard by the Court of Appeal and for the stay orders to be effective. Because I was not in a position to raise the full amount on my own within the given period, I approached a few of my close friends and asked them to help me raise KSh 250,000, which is half of the required KSh 500,000. I simply reached out privately to people close to me to chip in wherever they could. I want to make it very clear that I did not ask TikTokers, bloggers or members of the public to fundraise for me. This was never meant to be a public fundraising campaign. Unfortunately, despite the support from friends, I was unable to raise the required amount within the stipulated 45 days because I also have other responsibilities that I have to take care of. I sincerely appreciate the friends who were willing to stand with me and help where they could. Thank you for your support. I hope this clears up the misinformation currently circulating. Kindly avoid spreading figures or information that has not been verified. The amount was KSh 500,000 — not KSh 6 million.
