Police have recovered bales of military-style clothing connected to Al-Shabaab during an operation in Eastleigh, Nairobi.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) on Wednesday reported that the fatigue consignment was retrieved during a night operation at the KBS garage area.

In Eastleigh, police found 11 bales containing 120 T-shirts and 60 camouflage suits. A second bale produced 120 T-shirts and 65 uniforms.

Due to capacity constraints at another logistics outlet, the materials were allegedly temporarily stored until being discovered at a parcel facility.

A multi-agency team, comprising members of the Anti-Terrorism Police Unit (ATPU), began the operation following an interception in Dhobley on 6th April 2026.

According to the DCI, Jubaland Security Forces found 25 bales of suspected Al-Shabaab camouflage uniforms in Dhobley, suggesting a larger cross-border logistics network. A portion of the consignment was later tracked to Nairobi.

According to preliminary findings, a local parcel manager received and stored the shipment after it was delivered by a person named Sharif. The trail then led, according to detectives, to a freight company that is believed to have helped import a larger batch of 37 bales.

Police say the consignment is suspected to have come from China and entered Kenya through the Port of Mombasa while posing as consolidated cargo.

There are currently a number of suspects in jail, including those connected to the shipment’s clearance and coordination. Investigators claim to have found links between many parties thought to be a part of a larger supply chain network.

All recovered materials have been secured as exhibits, according to the DCI, and investigations are still underway with the goal of dismantling the entire network and finding more accomplices.
